AT FIRST LOOK

Not much in  the way of reports this issue, just tournament results. Newsletters are getting a bit more difficult to write these days with the instant communication that is available on the internet. CKF members can get their information from the kendo-canada listserver ( join from http://kendo-canada.com/ ) or iaido-l ( http://www.uoguelph.ca/~iaido/iai.sign-on.html ) almost daily. There are also electronic magazines and journals to check out ( EJMAS ) for more detailed articles, so a newsletter seems almost superfluous, but we keep offering it here for download and distribution to those who don't have access to the net.

So here's the September issue for your perusal. Feedback is always welcome.

Toronto Kendo Club 20th and Mississauga Kendo Club 5th Anniversary Tournament (Aug. 3-5,2001)

Many thanks to all those attended the Toronto Kendo Club 20th and Mississauga Kendo Club 5th Anniversary Tournament on Saturday. Many thanks as well to all those who worked as volunteers, organizers and referees, as well as to those who supported the tournament financially through the purchase of ads in our program and through donations.

The tournament was a great success, with over 190 participants from Japan, the US and Canada. The 31-member delegation from Takushoku University showed superb Kendo, demonstrating the level of speed and skill that can be reached when Kendoka practice rigorously on a daily basis!

Saskatoon Kendo Club Website and JSA FAQ Website are Moving

The Saskatoon Kendo Club website has moved to:

                         http://www.kendo-sask.com

The Japanese Sword Arts FAQ has been updated and moved to:

                         http://www.kendo-sask.com/swordfaq.htm

The old addresses at www.sfn.saskatoon.sk.ca/sports/kendo still work and will contain redirects for as long as the tottering Saskatoon Freenet still stands. The FAQ changes are mostly just link updates and spelling fixes.
