Growing the Kendo Community in Canada
The Canadian Kendo Federation is a Registered Canadian Amateur Athletic Association (BN #133424457RR0001) and is a community-based volunteer organization building the foundation for the growth and development of Kendo, Iaido, and Jodo across Canada.
In a time when inflation strains household budgets and busy schedules make it hard to commit to sport or art, kendo remains a place for young people to learn and thrive. It offers a place to grow through self-discipline, mutual care, and shared humanity, and it gives people of all ages a space to connect and challenge themselves. To keep kendo thriving across Canada, we rely on your support. Your donation helps us keep programs accessible, strengthen youth development, and sustain the future of our kendo community.

Your Support at Work
Throughout the years, I have had the chance to participate in several Junior Team Canada programs. I started when I was 10 years old, travelling with 16 other players from across the country to compete at an international tournament in Belgium. Since then, my interest and commitment to kendo have only grown.
In 2024 and 2025, I represented Junior Team Canada at the Kaiseiki High School Tournament in Akita, Japan. The trip organized by the CKF gave me the chance to see kendo in its home country and experience top-tier competition. 2025 was my final year as a Junior athlete, and I was proud to compete for my home dojo at the National Junior Championships and place first in the U18 Division. I am truly grateful to the CKF for supporting me and giving me opportunities that shaped my entire kendo journey.
Growing up in Calgary, making Team Canada felt like a far-off dream. I never imagined I would one day compete at the 14th, 16th, and 17th World Championships, or have the honour of serving as captain at the 2018 Worlds. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities the CKF has given me throughout my competitive career.
Over the past decade, my focus has shifted to growing my dojo and helping develop kendo in Calgary. With the support and encouragement of the CKF, we have been able to host two National Junior Championships, something I never would have imagined possible when I first started.
The CKF has played an essential role not only in expanding kendo in Alberta but also in my own development as an athlete, instructor, and community leader. I am thankful for everything the organization has done to help me give back to the next generation of Canadian kenshi.
