On September 4, 2020, the International Kendo Federation (FIK) officially announced the postponement of the 18th World Kendo Championships scheduled for May 2021 in Paris, France.

During an Extraordinary FIK BODM for FY2020, the 18 FIK Directors voted to postpone the 18th WKC in light of the on-going COVID-19 pandemic around the world.

CKF President, Christian D’Orangeville supported the decision, citing the health and well-being of athletes, coaches, and officials as paramount.

The CKF supports the on-going efforts of the Coaching and Management Staff for Team Canada 2021, during the on-going COVID-19 restrictions. The 2021 Prospects continue to train virtually under the direction of Coach Dean Ara, working to maintain focus mentally and physically with the World Kendo Championships in sight.
