The CKF National grading was successful. Everything went smoothly.

All candidates from 1-5 dan passed the written Exam test. Some one needed one or two rewrites. For the jitsugi test, most candidates performed with the intention of showing a “shinai of sincerity”. About the Bokuto (ikkyu) and Nihon Kata tests, all candidates understand the importance of a regular dojo practice.

All twelve judges were concentrated to follow the “Criteria for Dan Grading” written by Kamata sensei. These criteria are mostly some Japanese budo concepts (with an English translation) Avoiding some aspects of the western phraseology, these criteria will be a good tool to improve judging skills. All CKF grading panel judges from the West Coast to the Maritimes will have to study the deep meaning of these martial arts concepts. Certainly the Written Exam Committe will use some of those concepts as questions for the highest grade examination next year.
