President’s Message – June 2, 2020
To All Members of the Canadian Kendo Federation and Associated Martial Arts. I have been graciously invited by some members of our federation to speak virtually to each of you during this storm caused by a small, single-stranded RNA virus that is disrupting our lives, our work, our families and our social organization, while at the same time bringing out demons deep in our psyche, manifesting themselves as angst and fear.
Canadian National Kendo Championships Postponed
Due to the on-going uncertainty and health risks posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the CKF Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to postpone the 20th Canadian National Kendo Championships, scheduled to be held July 24-27 in Burnaby, BC.
2020 Spring and Summer Gradings Cancelled
In light of the growing COVID-19 health crisis in Canada, the CKF has officially cancelled all Kendo, Iaido, and Jodo gradings planned for the spring and summer of 2020.
2020 FIK America Zone Kendo Referee Seminar Summary
The CKF hosted the FIK America Zone Referee Seminar January 25-26 in Burnaby, BC. With 103 participants from the US, Brazil and across Canada, it was a wonderful opportunity for kendo practitioners from across the Americas to come together and hone their refereeing skills.
2020 President’s New Years Message
Membership registration is now open for 2020. The CKF has many exciting events and endeavours planned for 2020, including our tri-annual National Kendo Championships.
